August in New England

Enjoying the summer breeze.

Lounging with Pop.

Playing with Grammy.

Hanging out with the Eastman crew. Thanks for meeting us at the beach!

Sneak attack.

My mug has a few scratches from my adventures.

Tad meets the alpacas. He wanted to bring one home for the frenchies, along with the nice alpaca farmer he befriended.

Aunt Jeannie and Tad ride the train. Choo choo!

Pat the bunny. Live.

Watching the mowers with Pop.

Petting the friendly goose. They have a lot of fake animals at this place...

The golfers.

We headed north to Grammy & Pop's house the first week of August and had a wonderful time, complete with trips to the beach and local fair, as well as catching up with Aunt Jeannemarie. Tad adores Aunt Jeannie and, as usual, she spoiled him rotten. The weather was perfect and it was non-stop excitement for Tad, from the early morning trips to watch the mowers with Pop to rides on the golf cart. Grammy taught Tad how to say "uh oh" (frequently pronounced "oh uh" by Tad) and cockadoodledoo. We had to purchase a rooster for our kitchen upon returning home and are still working on explaining that "oh uh" isn't an appropriate response when Tad intentionally launches food from his highchair (the frenchies have been packing on the pounds much to their delight). Grammy spoiled the rest of us with several gourmet meals, including a farewell feast of lobster and corn - one of the many things I miss about New England summers. Thank you for a great trip.

Tad's first trip to the carwash

If only we had the audio. Tad was wide eyed and very excited.

The Howells at the Zoo!

Kit and Uncle David.

Sweet cousins, Kit and Brooke, cruise around the zoo.

The big kids, Bryce and Elsie, keep us laughing.

Elsie takes Tad for a spin.

Tad waves hello to his animal buddies.

In late July, the Howells-Thompson crew came from Savannah for a visit. We headed to the zoo and despite the triple digit temperatures, had a great time checking out all the animals and riding the carousal. We gathered at 665 Edinboro for more fun with the cousins and tasty meals.

The Depot

We stopped by Home Depot with Tad in July to pick up some yard supplies and realized that we had been depriving him of quite a treat just up the road. Tad absolutely loves cruising around the aisles in his orange race car. Tad reminds us that it's the little things in life. With Home Depot and Kroger, we won't have to go to Disney World for years. The only drawback is trying to get Tad out of the cart and into the car after the adventure...

Cherries!

Several weekends this summer, we barbecued with the Boukaters. Tad loved the cherries Aunt Barbara served, as well as clowning around with Bryce and Brooke.

Where did the summer go?

Hi Tad, my name is Harvey.

Grammy defends Tad's masculinity with the purchase a boy's bike helmut for the house. Tad had previously been wearing a helmut with pink and purple flowers. Tad stares at the driveway, hoping someone will take him on a ride.

Johnny prepared another masterpiece - surf and turf for Grammy's birthday.

According to the calendar it is late September, but the ninety degree weather, sunny days and fun adventures make it still feel like summer. The summer of 2010 flew by for us and we are now catching our breath and wondering what happened to the past three months. I have been completely delinquent with the blog and apologize for the long delay in posting photos.

We kicked off the summer with a fabulous trip to Hilton Head for the July 4th holiday. We spent the long weekend with Grammy and Poppa and a night with Joe and Donna Davis. Tad had a blast - highlights include playing on the beach, bike rides and a trip to see Harvey at Lawton Farm. Grammy introduced Tad to corn on the cob, which became an instant favorite (we now have to hide the ear of corn until he eats his other food as Tad becomes a bit obsessed once he sees it), and ice cream sandwiches. Perfect summer treats!

Looking at the above photos, I am struck by how much Tad has changed just since July 4th. He now sports a mullet (not sure where he gets the dirty blonde curls), walk/runs at quite a fast clip and says a handful of words (heehaw is this week's word of choice).
